Tamekia MizLadi Smith is a provocative and accomplished Spoken Word Vocalist and Speaker. Her witty EDUtainment delivery through storytelling and music has proven to be an effective way to convey her mission of educating, empowering and entertaining her audiences. As a health advocate; Tamekia is dedicated to creating conversation around engaging non clinical staff in health care settings especially in the areas of Behavioral Health, Health Equity and Research. Tamekia is also passionate about subjects such as but not limited to Suicide Prevention, Domestic Violence and Children of Incarcerated parents.
Tamekia serves on the board of "Dear Poetry" where the mission is to restore communities through the lost art of writing. Recently Tamekia has been a speaker for Nationwide Children's 1st Annual DISCOVERYx event; keynote speaker for the United Way Neighborhood Best Practices Conference and in November 2017 she delivers a power TEDx Columbus talk entitled "Finding My Voice". Tamekia was a speaker at the 2018 TED Conference in Vancouver, Canada. She has been a trainer consultant /mentor for programs such as "Girls in Action", "Dear Sistah Girlfriend" and the Columbus City Schools. Tamekia is publishing a book entitled "True Story" which explores the process of overcoming Social Determinants of Health through Mentoring and Creative Arts.
